Paris Jackson and her brother Prince headed to the tattoo parlor last week to get new tattoos, and while Prince opted for a large tattoo on his right shoulder blade of Anubis, the Egyptian god of the afterlife, Paris decided to get a big and bold tattoo tribute to her grandmother. Paris’ new tattoo was inked by artist Hillary Santagata of Royal Ink Tattoos in Tustin, California, and features a bright blue lotus flower on the inside of her left wrist with Mandarin Chinese symbols inked below it.
Paris’ new tattoo is the second one she’s gotten since she turned 18 on April 3, the first being a tribute to her late father, Michael Jackson. The teen, who was only 11 years old when her father passed away, had the words “Queen of My Heart” tattooed across the outside of her left wrist in Michael’s handwriting. After getting the new ink, Paris explained, “To everyone else he was the King of Pop. To me, well, he was the king of my heart.”
This latest tattoo of Paris Jackson’s pays tribute to another beloved family member – the 18-year-old’s grandmother and former legal co-guardian, Katherine Jackson. Paris posted a photo of her new wrist tattoo on Instagram last week, along with the caption: “Kăisèlín for Grandma Katherine, done by the ink goddess herself @thetattooprincess. Love you, G-ma.” Katherine is the matriarch of the Jackson family and the late Michael Jackson’s mother, and she was assigned as Paris’ legal co-guardian with TJ Jackson, Michael’s nephew, following the singer’s death.
Plenty of celebrities have opted for tattoos dedicated to their loved ones, including Miley Cyrus, who also got a tattoo in honor of her grandmother, Loretta Finley, back in 2013. While Paris Jackson opted for a lotus flower and Mandarin Chinese tattoo for her grandmother, Miley had a gorgeous portrait of her grandmother inked in black and white on the inside of her forearm.
