Pop star Kesha is known for her unique sense of style, and that style extends to her collection of tattoos, which she just upgraded this week with a tiny “psychedelic” whale tattoo on her arm. Kesha’s latest tattoo, somewhere around her 29th to date, appears to be inked on the inside of her arm, and features a small orca whale inked in yellow and pink. Kesha announced after the new year that she would be taking some time off from social media to help quell her anxiety and depression, but she apparently couldn’t resist sharing a photo of her new psychedelic whale tattoo.
Kesha took to Instagram on January 10 to show off her fresh whale ink, captioning the snap, “psychedelic whales are slowly covering my entire body…” This new whale tat is certainly cute, but covering her body in various “psychedelic” whale tattoo designs seems like a decision she may regret later in life. However, Kesha’s fans approve of this latest piece, if the comments section of her Instagram post is any indication. The pink and yellow whale received rave reviews from Kesha’s fan club, with comments ranging from “It needs a name!” to “Your tattoos are seriously the cutest,” and “love it so much.”
By covering her body in psychedelic whales, the pop star is referring, of course, to the other sea creature tattoos she’s had inked on her body recently, many of which feature whale designs. These include a stick-and-poke “whale shark blob whatever” tattoo she gave herself while on vacation in Mexico in 2016, a tattoo of a large whale she had inked on her left forearm that same year, and, also done in 2016, an arm tattoo of a narwhal, a pale-colored porpoise with two teeth, one of which, in males, grows through its upper lip and resembles a unicorn horn. Kesha’s narwhal tattoo was inspired by the pop star’s Halloween costume last year, which she loved so much, she immortalized in permanent ink, courtesy of tattoo artist Derrick Snodgrass.
Obviously, 2016 was a big year for whale and sea creature tattoos, and Kesha apparently plans to keep that party going in 2017. Keep an eye out for more Kesha tattoos in the near future, especially those of the whale variety. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
