Actress Sophia Bush has debuted a new tat, and the ink is identical to Miley Cyrus’ finger tattoo of a small equal sign on the inside of her finger. While filming the “Chicago Fire” spinoff “Chicago PD,” the former star of “One Tree Hill” hit up Speakeasy Custom Tattoo in Chicago, along with DJ duo Jane Doze, and all three got new tattoos. Sophia first hinted at a new tat on November 3, 2013, posting an Instagram pic of the three girls wearing tell-tale bandages that covered up their ink. The actress accompanied the pic with the following message: “Remember that time @thejanedoze and I were gonna get tattooed in SF? Well…#Chicago did it for us…Thanks @HeathRave. We (love) you. #SpeakeasyTattoo.”
Sophia Bush’s new tattoo features an equal sign inked on the side of her left-hand ring finger, in almost the exact same spot as Miley Cyrus’ tattoo of an equal sign, which is located on the side of her right-hand ring finger. Only difference? Sophia’s tattoo is inked in white. “the stencil for my new ink,” Sophia captioned the Instagram picture of her finger tat. “the tattoo is white. the pride is a rainbow. this fight matters. I am so grateful to love, be loved, and witness the love of others. and our love is the same love.” Sophia Bush’s equal sign tattoo was inked by Heath Rave of Speakeasy Custom Tattoo in Wicker Park, Chicago.
The meaning behind Sophia’s finger tattoo is obviously equal rights – an issue that has always been important but has come to the forefront in recent months in particular. Back in 2011, when Miley Cyrus got her equal sign finger tattoo, the ink was pretty controversial and the singer received quite a bit of backlash in response to the symbol of equality. “ALL LOVE is equal,” Miley captioned the picture of her finger tattoo, also writing, “Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. GOD is love.” The pop star has always voiced her opinions about personal and political issues – gay rights in particular – and now Sophia Bush is following in Miley’s footsteps with her own cool equal sign tattoo!
