As you can probably guess, we are all about awesome tattoos here at Pop Star Tats, but when it comes to getting inked on the face, we have to say…there’s a line. On that note, Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor debuted a couple of brand-new tattoos during a performance in England earlier this month, and we are curious what you all think of the mysterious “B” and “Q” tats she got inked in red calligraphy on her left and right cheeks?
Miss O’Connor debuted her new face tattoos on September 6, while performing at the Bestival music festival in England, and while the eccentric singer’s father has given the ink two thumbs way up, we have to admit, we are a little skeptical about face tattoos in general. According to a blog post written by Sinead herself, the face tats are a tribute to a mystery man named Brendan Quinlin who may have hurt the singer’s feelings at one point. Well, getting your face tattooed is one way to get his attention, there Sinead.
“Brendan Quinlan..”It’s what it is”..Un ange passe 😉 There’s a bottle of Agent Provocateur in someone’s room that Belongs to me,” Sinead O’Connor wrote in a blog post titled “Face Tattoo” that really doesn’t do much to explain the meaning behind the ink. “Un ange passe” is a French phrase meaning “an awkward silence,” and apparently, the Irish singer opted for the face tattoos after this Brendan Quinlan fella “wrecked her life.” As for going under the needle itself, “It was suitably painful,” Sinead told the Irish Sun.
As far as we know, Sinead’s face tattoos were inked after the singer had a falling out with this mysterious Mr. Quinlan, and as the 46-year-old’s father Sean O’Connor said, “Put it this way, every individual has their own way of expressing themselves.” That’s all well and good, but what’s going to happen when Sinead finally gets over this guy and still has to see his initials on her face every time she looks in the mirror? Seems to us, it should be the other way around.
More recently, Sinead responded to jokes about her tattoos being a tribute to hardware giant B&Q, writing on her website, “Yes…yes…the B&Q jokes are funny…I had actually thought of getting an & sign on my nose (not really).” Well, at least she has a sense of humor!
