There’s nothing more embarrassing than a flagrantly misspelled tattoo, especially one that’s out there for everyone to see, and pop star Jessie J knows this from experience. The 26-year-old singer gave an interview on “The Graham Norton Show” over the weekend, and admitted that she has a horribly misspelled tattoo on her right hip, which is the main reason you often see her wearing high-waisted clothing. “I’m not going to put a spelling mistake that close to the camera,” Jessie J revealed during the “Graham Norton” interview. And this unfortunate spelling mistake has apparently put the singer off tattoos for life, as she said, “I’m going to get it covered and I’m not having any more tattoos.”
In telling the story behind her unfortunate misspelled tattoo, Jessie J said, “I did it ages ago and had ‘Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the star!’ tattooed on my side.” For those of you who aren’t familiar with the pop star, those are the lyrics to one of Jessie J’s own songs, “Who You Are,” which was released as the sixth overall single from her debut studio album of the same name. Unfortunately, Jessie J’s tattoo is not the sweet inspirational reminder she intended it to be. “Not long after I had it done my mum said to me in tears, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this but it is spelt wrong.’ I have ‘Don’t loose who you are in the blur of the stars!’”
The worst part about Jessie J’s misspelled lyrics tattoo is that it’s pretty darn noticeable, running from her right lower back, across her hip and partially onto her stomach in a curving design complete with three stars each at the beginning and end of the tattoo. “It’s really big, which is awful,” says Jessie J about the ink, which she only puts on display when she’s romping around at the beach in a teeny bikini. As much as she regrets it now though, Jessie J’s misspelled tattoo isn’t her only piece of ink. She also has the phrase “Stand Up” inked on her wrist, and a heart tattoo made up of a treble clef and bass clef behind her ear. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see what tattoo Jessie J gets to cover up her misspelled ink!
