Cate Blanchett may be known as Hollywood’s golden girl, but that didn’t stop the 44-year-old from getting a new tattoo to celebrate her best actress Oscars win for her role in the film “Blue Jasmine.” Early on the morning of March 3, the day after her big Oscar win, Cate dropped by the Ellen Degeneres Show to celebrate, and there was no wrist tattoo in sight. Later that day however, the actress was spotted leaving the Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlor in West Hollywood, with husband Andrew Upton, fellow best actress nominee Amy Adams, and Amy’s fiance Darren Le Gallo in tow, and a tell-tale black bandage was wrapped around her left wrist. Guess there were no hard feelings between Cate and Amy, who were both up for the best actress Oscar the night before!
Some of you may be surprised that Cate Blanchett decided to get inked after her Oscars win, but the truth is that the talented actress and two-time Oscar winner is no stranger to tattoos. The 44-year-old Australian may not be one to talk about her tattoos in public (When asked once if she had any tattoos, Cate, always discreet, responded, “Oh, there you go”), but in an undated photograph of Cate modeling a chic Dior Homme suit, the actress is slightly lifting up her shirt and showing off a hint of a tattoo at her waistline. According to reports, Cate’s hip tattoo includes the first initials of her husband, Andrew, and their three sons – Dashiell, 12, Roman, nine, and Ignatius, five. Looks like this golden girl may have a bad-ass streak, after all!
Of all the tattoo shops in Hollywood, you may be wondering why Cate chose Shamrock Social Club to ink her new Oscars tattoo? Despite its name, the tattoo parlor is actually quite discreet when it comes to the privacy of their celebrity clientele, and its artists have inked many of Harry Styles’ tattoos, and a number of other tats for big names in the music industry, including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. The staff at Shamrock Social Club has stayed true to their reputation and kept quiet about Cate Blanchett’s tattoo, but they did tweet the following message that same day: “Congrats to our friends @JaredLeto and #Cate Blanchett for your #Oscar wins!” Looks like Jared Leto is a Shamrock Social Club customer as well…we wonder if he too, opted for a new tattoo to celebrate his Oscars win for best supporting actor??
