British singer Rita Ora was born on November 26, 1990, which makes her a Sagittarius – a symbol the 22-year-old incorporated into a tattoo as a permanent reminder of her astrological sign. Rita Ora’s tattoo features a small crossbow, or bow and arrow symbol, inked in black behind her right ear, in the exact same spot as Rihanna’s tattoo of the Pisces sign, which is the Bajan beauty’s astrological sign. Like the letter “R” tattoo Rita has inked in the same spot behind her other ear, the discreet location of the Sagittarius tat makes it seem more personal and intimate – no one can see it unless she wants them to!
What Does the Sagittarius Symbol Mean?
Sagittarius, which is one of the three fire signs along with Aries and Leo, is the ninth astrological sign and is symbolized as a centaur – half man and half horse – wielding a bow and arrow. The typical Sagittarius sign looks like an arrow pointing diagonally upwards and to the right, with a short line bisecting the long part of the arrow near the bottom, making it look like a cross. However, when Rita decided to get her Sagittarius tattoo, which was inked sometime before January 2013, she opted for a slightly fancier symbol illustrating the actual bow and arrow traditionally associated with the centaur.
Rita: “Passion Drives Me”
A lot of Rita Ora’s tattoos are inspired by love, including her Aphrodite arm tat, the word “Love” tattooed on her finger and the quote “All’s fair in love and war” she has inked on her hip, and apparently, passion is a big motivator for the young singer in her career and in life in general. “I’m a Sagittarius, a fire sign, so passion drives me,” Rita once said in an interview, comparing herself to Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfield, a person she strongly admires. If passion and creative energy is what has skyrocketed the London native to near-instant fame in the United States, it’s no wonder she got the zodiac symbol permanently inked on her body as a reminder of that success!
