Once Cara Delevingne got her first taste of a tattoo with the impressive lion ink on her finger, there was no stopping her. Just one week after commissioning celebrity tattoo artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy to do her lion tattoo, the British fashion model debuted her second tat – her initials “CJD” inked in large black cursive letters on the outside of her right hand. Cara, whose middle name is Jocelyn, returned to Bang Bang for the prominent ink, who, in turn, let the 20-year-old ink her initials inside a heart on his own leg. Afterward, Cara posted the pic of her playing tattoo artist on Instagram, writing, “Me tattooing a tattoo legend!! You must be crazy @bangbangnyc.”
Bang Bang may, in fact, be slightly crazy, but there is no denying the fact that he is a tattoo master, sought out by inked-up pop stars like Rihanna, Rita Ora, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown. Rihanna was, of course, the first person to introduce her “lover” Cara Delevingne to the incredible tattooing skills of Bang Bang, but the model went solo during her second trip to the tattoo shop, when she got her “CJD” tat done. There’s no question that Cara Delevingne’s tattoo stands for her initials CJD, but some have criticized the model for permanently marking herself with the acronym for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. You know…mad cow’s disease. Awkward…
It’s obvious that Cara is a big fan of body art, and she has become quite the convert since getting inked for the first time. Prior to getting her “CJD” hand tattoo, which was inked on May 20, 2013, Cara tweeted, “Tattoo number two is coming sooooooon!!!” After the tattoo session, the model uploaded a pic of her hand tattoo on Instagram, along with the caption: “My new CJD (Cara Jocelyn Delevingne) tattoo by @bangbangnyc.” Although Cara Delevingne’s modeling agency is reportedly furious about her growing tattoo collection, there appears to be no stopping the 20-year-old now. Lucky for us, Cara recently told Glamour magazine she wants “loads” more tats all over her body. We can’t wait to see them!
