Chris Brown gives us all a little insight into one of his favorite things to do with a new tattoo inked on his chest that he debuted on July 10, 2012. CB hasn’t released much information about his new armpit / chest tattoo yet, but read on to learn what we know so far and check back soon to stay updated on Chris Browns tattoos!
If Chris Brown’s tattoos represent all the things he loves, the R&B star has made it pretty clear how he feels about himself with his new tattoo. Less than two weeks after Chris Brown debuted the wolf Indian chief tattoo on his neck in June 2012, the 23-year-old singer hit up Peter Koskela of Black Banditz Tattoo in Los Angeles yet again for another new tattoo, this time on his chest under his left armpit. Chris Browns new tattoo on his chest features his own image sporting a hoodie and a respirator, like those commonly used by graffiti artists and painters. Chris Brown has a number of other graffiti-inspired tattoos on his body and he has made mention of his love for graffiti art in the past, so could this newest tat mean he’s back in the graffiti biz?
Chris Browns New Tat is Cool, But What Does it Mean?
Pictures of Chris Browns new graffiti tattoo were first posted by CB himself on his Twitter account on the morning of July 10, 2012, and along with the tattoo pic, Chris Brown tweeted “The Bandit!! @petertattooist new ink!” You may be wondering what the significance is of Chris Brown’s bandit graffiti tattoo, and we’re here to give you the inside scoop. Here goes:
- Chris Brown used to enjoy doing graffiti, and he has several tattoos on his body that represent this favorite past time, including the spray can tat on his left arm and the graffiti-style “C” being held up by a hand on his upper left arm. Both of these sleeve tattoos were inked in Chris Brown’s teens, back when he was still actively into doing graffiti art.
- At the 2008 American Music Awards, Chris Brown announced the title of this third studio album, Graffiti, which Brown called an “amazing, insane record. Something you’ve never heard before.” The album was released in December 2009, and debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200, selling 102,000 copies in its first week.
- On July 6, 2012, Chris Brown used Twitter to post a link to a picture on Instagram of a graffiti mural that he painted for the Jenesse Center, a domestic violence intervention center in South Los Angeles. The Jenesse Center is actually the oldest domestic violence intervention center in the South L.A. area, founded in 1980 by five African American women who were survivors of domestic violence. The mural is a funky graffiti painting of colorful faces on a long wall located outdoors.
- Just before posting the pic of his “Bandit” chest tattoo Chris Brown posted a picture of himself wearing a spray paint respirator mask, just like the one in the ink. This seems like pretty solid evidence that Chris Brown is getting back into the art scene. Who knows…maybe he’ll ink one of his own tattoos one day!
