Cara Delevingne is the hottest model out there right now, but her refreshing “realness” is one of the main reasons you can’t help but love her, like when she admitted in a recent interview with The Guardian that she dreams about punching a paparazzo in the face. “I’d love to, I really would, I’d be so happy, I dream about it at night,” she said very candidly, while somehow managing to sound sweet and badass at the same time.
It may seem like she’s biting the hand that feeds her, i.e. the photographers that put her image out there for all the world to admire, but the 21-year-old seems to have a pretty harsh view of the modeling industry, and that makes us wonder if Cara Delevingne’s tattoo on her bicep reading “breathe deep” is simply a reminder for her to keep her cool, even when she feels a strong desire to throw some punches.
During her interview with The Guardian, Cara had this to say about the modeling world: “You’re looked through, you’re not looked at, you are treated as a kind of mannequin. I got a tattoo saying Made in England above my foot to represent that, that I felt like a doll for so long. Because you are just a kind of puppet, you know, entertainment. You kind of feel that you need to have no soul really, to do that job, a little bit.” So why does Cara put up with “all the people and all the crap” if it makes her feel like a puppet, you ask? As a means to an end.
Cara Delevingne has expressed a strong interest in acting, and she appears to be using her wildly successful modeling career to further that agenda, and what makes us like her even more is that she isn’t afraid to say that out loud. “It’s always what I wanted to do since I was four years old, the first time I got on stage,” Cara has said about pursuing a career in acting. “I just wanted to be an entertainer and performer…so this is living the dream.” She still isn’t so sure about being a role model for other young women though. After receiving scores of messages on Twitter from young girls telling Cara that she is their idol, the model famously asked, for what? “It’s not that being in a Burberry campaign, or walking in a Chanel show is nothing,” she said. “It’s just…I know I can do more.”
We have a feeling that Cara Delevingne will do much, much more with her life, being that she is only 21, but in the meantime, she will just have to deal with the modeling industry and all the “perks” that go along with it, i.e. the paparazzi. And if her white ink arm tattoo helps remind her to stay cool and prevents her from punching photographers, then that’s great. Because sometimes we all need a little reminder to “breathe deep.”
