Keith Urban has gotten inked with a new “Nicole” tattoo, and the gesture proves that there is still a spark in the happy couple’s seven-year marriage. On October 23, 2013, Keith appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show to promote his new album Fuse, but the Australian singer and American Idol judge also happened to show off the tribute tattoo he recently had inked on his right arm in honor of his loving wife, Australian actress Nicole Kidman. Apparently, the 45-year-old already had an inking of Nicole’s initials on his arm, but the new tat features a reworked version of the original piece, as well as the addition of an elaborate Celtic design.
He may not seem like the type to cover his body in tattoos, but, truth be told, Keith Urban is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, and his new arm tat is proof of that. The tattoo features his wife’s name “Nicole” inked on a banner in large scrolling letters and surrounded by an ornate black and white Celtic design, with a little pop of red color in the center. According to Keith, the original tattoo he had inked in that spot was one he and ex-girlfriend Niki Taylor got together in 2002, and featured the Latin phrase “Amor Vincit Omnia,” which translates to “Love conquers all.” Well, apparently love didn’t, because Keith and Niki called it quits and the Aussie had the tattoo changed in 2005 when he fell in love with now-wife Nicole Kidman.
“It has my wife’s initials in it,” Keith said about the arm tattoo he changed in 2005. “It was actually from another relationship where we had matching tattoos. We didn’t need that anymore, so I had it altered.” Now, Keith has altered the tattoo yet again, including Nicole’s full name with the intricate Celtic design, and the singer’s new arm tattoo was revealed as he performed on stage at The Jimmy Kimmel Show in a short-sleeve shirt. In addition to his revamped “Nicole” tattoo, Keith Urban has several other tats, including an eagle on his right shoulder blade, the word “Love” on his left shoulder blade, a phoenix on his left forearm, a tribal bracelet on his right wrist and a tat on the left side of his chest that looks like a tribal sun.
