Angelina Jolie has been laying low on the tattoo front these days, but the mother of six surprised us all this week when she debuted a brand-new tattoo on her arm that appears to be written in Arabic. Angelina is currently in Australia filming her new movie Unbroken, and it was during a trip to the Sydney aquarium with her very excited brood on September 9, 2013, that the 38-year-old beauty first revealed the long line of ink on her arm. Angie’s mysterious foreign language tattoo is inked in black on the inside of her right forearm, directly below another Arabic tat the actress has, which means “determination.” Any idea what the actress’ Arabic tattoo means this time??
It’s been quite a while since Angelina, who is known as one of the most inked up actresses in Hollywood, has debuted a new tattoo, but we say it’s about time she added to her impressive collection of ink! Like many of Angie’s other tattoos – including her Arabic “determination” arm tat, the Buddhist incantation tattoo she sports on the back of her left shoulder, and the Latin quote tat that translates to “what nourishes me, destroys me” – the new arm ink appears to be written in a foreign language. Based on the design of similar tattoos we’ve seen on other pop stars, like Rihanna’s Arabic side tattoo, we’re going to go ahead and guess that Angie’s arm tat is also written in Arabic.
Some believe that Angelina Jolie’s new tattoo was done following her double mastectomy operation earlier this year, since the tattoo lover is known for getting ink to mark important chapters in her life, but the piece was noticeably absent from the actress’ arm when she was photographed stepping out of her car just last month. Whatever reason Angelina had for getting a new tattoo, we’re sure the inspiration behind the ink is something positive. “Usually all my tattoos came at good times,” Angie has said about her tattoos in the past, and she is about to be presented with her second Oscar…
Despite Angelina’s incredible success as an actress, director, mother, wife and humanitarian, the 38-year-old still has a very humble view of herself as a person, saying, “I’m still at heart – and always will be – just a punk kid with tattoos.” We definitely wouldn’t use the words “punk” and “kid” to describe Angelina Jolie, but it’s kind of nice to find that even an international superstar and sex icon can be so down to earth, adding a new tattoo like someone else would add an entry to their diary. “A tattoo is something permanent when you’ve made a self-discovery, or something you’ve come to a conclusion about,” she once said about her collection of ink. So what new discovery have you made this time Angie?? We are dying to know!
