Ariana Grande appears to be following in the footsteps of fellow pop stars Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, showing off not one, but TWO new tattoos on her fingers during a meet and greet as part of her Honeymoon Tour. Ariana Grande’s tattoos are both inked on the fingers of her right hand, and one features the word “honeymoon” done in a black script font on the inside of her middle finger, and the other appears to be a Hebrew inscription done in black ink on the inside of her ring finger. Ariana Grande seems to prefer small, discreet tattoos over bold, in-your-face ink, and the 21-year-old singer stayed true to her style with these two small, cute pieces.
Ariana’s “honeymoon” finger tattoo is a pretty obvious nod to her Honeymoon Tour, which is her first headlining tour, and one of her best songs, “Honeymoon Avenue.” Unfortunately, the ink may also remind her of her recent split from rapper Big Sean, with whom everyone assumed the singer would tie the knot. After eight months of pretty intense dating and collaboration on the music front, the two called it quits, and while the break-up was unexpected and probably pretty heartbreaking, Ariana took to Twitter afterwards to let her followers know that she was doing just fine, writing, “I love u babes so much. You’re a bunch of angels honestly. Your love/care is appreciated so much. I’m good I promise.”
The Hebrew tattoo on Ariana’s finger was a little more surprising, but not if you know about the pop star’s religious background. Back in 2014, Ariana told The Telegraph in an interview that, while she was raised Catholic, she didn’t agree with the Church’s stance against homosexuality, particularly because her brother, Frankie Grande, is gay. Instead, Ariana and her brother took up Kabbalah, a Jewish mystical practice that the pop star credits with her current success.
When my brother was told that God didn’t love him I was like, ‘OK, that’s not cool.’ They were building a Kabbalah centre in Florida so we both checked it out and really had a connection with it. And since then, my life has unfolded in a really beautiful way, and I think that it has a lot to do with the tools I’ve learnt through Kabbalah.
It was only a matter of time then, before Ariana joined so many of her fellow singers and A-list celebrities, and opted for a foreign language tattoo, one inked in Hebrew, the language used for prayer or study in Jewish communities around the world. In fact, Ariana’s Hebrew tattoo matches the same ink her brother Frankie has in the exact same spot on his finger!
Ariana has stayed mum on the meaning behind her Hebrew tattoo, but fortunately for us, her brother Frankie has let the cat out of the bag! He recently explained to his Twitter followers: “my finger tat is the @72namesofgod I meditated on during #bb16 comps & since it worked so well I got it #Kabbalah.” According to the @72namesofgod Twitter profile, Ariana and Frankie’s tattoos are one of “72 three-letter sequences composed of Hebrew letters that have the extraordinary power to create miracles.”
These two new Ariana Grande tattoos come just one week after the singer posted an Instagram pic on April 14 of her new neck tattoo – a simple crescent moon tattoo that matches the same ink her best friend and back-up dancer Brian Nicholson got in the same place on the side of his neck. Ariana also rocks a tiny heart tattoo on her toe, the French phrase “Mille Tendresse” on the back of her neck and a “Bellissima” tat on her side. It seems like Ariana Grande is becoming more and more comfortable going under the needle, and we’re hoping to see some more tattoos from her in the near future!!
